ORGANIZING CLOTHINGS: ONE STEP AT A TIME

ORGANIZING CLOTHINGS: ONE STEP AT A TIME

I got pregnant with my first baby since the beginning of this year. As situation changes, many adjustments need to be make. One of the great challenges is clothing storage. We all know that in Malaysia, we don’t have seasonal switch or rotation of garments in a year. But for special situation like changing of outfits due to pregnancy, or probably your elder child is growing too fast and you may need to store up those outgrown clothes for the younger siblings, you may need to find a perfect storage solution in organizing these clothes.

As today DIY project, we are focusing on storage for clothing that can be used in the future, but is not being used right now. By storing these items, keep them organized so that you can find and use it again when you need it. The first step I did was to separate out all clothing which is not unfit for me during my pregnancy time from my own wardrobe. Obviously I can take this opportunity to do some decluttering too.

Clear plastic storage tubs are ideal for storing up clothing and you can see what’s storing inside. But for me, I prefer to cover up type box to store up clothing and putting labels on it. So, I would know what is inside. Recent survey on the market, I realize linen storage boxes could cost up between RM 20 – RM 60 per unit depends on the size of the storage box. If I happen to need more than one unit, it may cost a lot just for storage only. Therefore, I decided to make my own linen storage box with the ideal size I wanted to have.

The whole project cost me only about RM 25 by making my own 2 units of linen storage box to store up my clothing. What I need is an empty paper box (I used those A4 paper boxes from my office) , some linen of your choice, needle & thread, scissors to cut the linen, measuring tape and a glue gun for assembling.
